Working cattle ranch & horse breeding operation requires 1 assistant for the 2012 breeding season. We are a self run operation that stands a Quarter Horse stallion. We breed client mares here at the ranch & also ship semen all over Canada & the U.S. Our family also has a large cattle ranch that we are actively involved with at the same time.

Duties to include:

General chores, feeding of horses ...

Foaling, post foaling care

Handling mares & foals

Handling stallion

Assist with semen collection & preparation

Assist with A.I

Transportation of semen to shipping depot

General ranch labor - moving cattle, brandings, doctoring, sorting, (all done on horseback)

Working with yearling & foals, general handling & initial training of yearling s, depending on level of experience of applicant, possibly 2yr old colt starting under saddle. Conditioning/ exercising broke horses - (horses used for ranch & rodeo events)

Applicant must have valid drivers license, experience with horses & AI/breeding techniques. Experience with tractor & machinery would also be valuable. We are looking for a polite, clean cut, non smoking, hard working individual who is enthusiastic about the horse industry and would enjoy the ranch setting. Meals & accommodations provided (live-in).

Wage quite negotiable depending on level of experience & willingness to help out with other aspects of the ranch operation (tilling, seeding spring fields etc) Great opportunity to gain a variety of experience in every aspect of ranching with horses & cattle!
